Sautter + Lackmann: France and the Weimar Bauhaus
Walter Gropius and the early Bauhaus
Book presentation “France and the Weimar Bauhaus” on May 15, 2019 at 19 o’clock. The author Christoph Schulz-Mons in conversation with the architectural critic Olaf Bartels
Anyone who wants to understand the development process in the early Bauhaus is rightly seeking the artistic position of its founder, Walter Gropius, as well as the contemporary influences. New research has shown that, in addition to the Dutch De Stijl movement, France played a central role: apart from the foundations of the French Enlightenment and, above all, Cubism in the Paris World Exhibitions, not least Le Corbusier with his concept RESIDENTIAL MACHINE.
An event within the framework of the Hamburg Architecture Summer.
Admission is free.
